Chapter 19

THE NEXT several days went by in a blur for Ryan.

Petrov had him training every evening, sometimes in the club, other times at the dungeon in his penthouse.

He learned how to stand or kneel or display himself to Petrov’s standards and whims. If he made a mistake, Petrov didn’t punish him. But when Ryan did a good job, he would be rewarded. If he served Petrov dinner properly, he would get a bite or a sip of wine. Other rewards might be a caress or an embrace, or the permission to touch himself or to come.

At first Ryan simply went through the motions. He didn’t feel particularly submissive, but he could pretend. If he got the FBI the information they wanted, Petrov would go to jail for the drug dealing, the money laundering, and enough other felonies that even if they couldn’t connect him to Rocco’s death, Ryan could handle that.

By the third day of training with Petrov, something inside of Ryan shifted. Petrov’s expectations of him increased—though still he demanded nothing strictly sexual from Ryan—and it took more concentration and effort for Ryan to perform. Now it became a challenge. He wanted to succeed, to get it right, to please Petrov.

The punishments for failure began. If he made a mistake, Petrov wouldn’t speak to him for fifteen minutes. Ryan had to sit on the floor, but Petrov wouldn’t pet him or play with his hair. If Petrov used the flogger or paddle on him, he would stop the session just when Ryan was getting into it and craving more stimulation.

So Ryan found himself working hard to please Petrov in the smallest of ways. He wanted to earn rewards, but he wanted to avoid the punishment that came with Petrov ignoring him.
